Solar Power Service Providers in NY

New York’s Legislature Supports Solar Power Service Providers and Customers

There’s a growing number of solar power service providers in New York. The team at New York Power Solutions is proud to be a leader within a growing industry that is creating thousands of jobs and generating countless savings for families like yours. Solar Power in New York has been widely embraced, with support at the state level, as well as support from programs like the federal solar home tax credit.

This month, New York State showed its support again with new legislation.

The State Legislature passed a bill that requires that all public power providers generate their electricity from clean sources by 2030. This provides time for public utilities to phase out fossil fuels. The bill, known as the Build Public Renewables Act will also affect a range of publicly funded institutions and properties. For example, public housing, hospitals, and schools will be required to switch to renewable energy by 2035. This can be achieved by either buying electricity from a supplier that uses clean energy sources or by installing solar panels or other systems directly on-site.

The State Will Also Help You to Get Solar Power in New York

Although this recent bill primarily affects publicly owned utilities and organizations, the State will also help you to get an affordable New York solar installation.

There are a range of important programs available, like the NY-SUN program that creates a direct incentive taken off the top of your bill, based on your current utility provider and the size of your solar installation.

You can also take advantage of a solar income tax credit, of up to $5,000. If you live in New York City, there’s also a property tax abatement program available that will help to offset the cost of your installation.

State incentives factor heavily into our no-money-down financing at New York Power Solutions. Through our financing partner, you can get solar without a deposit. An initial loan will be interest-free and calculated based on expected solar tax credits. It is paid once the credits are received. You can apply state credits to this financing model, as well as a 30% federal solar tax credit. Combining and calculating all the applicable credits can be confusing, which is why we help you through the process to simplify every step.

After the interest-free loan, you will be moved to a standard solar loan with a competitive interest rate to cover the remainder of your bill. Solar is surprisingly affordable when you factor in how state and federal credits and incentives offset the investment. Most families are eligible for credits. You’ll end up paying less for solar and with easier access to financing, you’ll be able to start paying down on a system that ultimately provides a return on investment.
